Perceptions of Heritage

Buildings and structures can be protected from demolition by planning policy, whereby heritage  designations are determined by professionals. However, even if not designated, a building may be important to different community groups who seek its retention. This project reviews the degree of consensus between heritage experts and lay people in their perceptions of heritage, and what impact this has on the decision to adapt or demolish existing buildings.
